the 8 1/2th circle

so in an attempt to reach new levels of absurdity, the gods of the california gubernatorial election have thrown a real screwball - gray davis (y'know, the guy everyone's trying to toss out on his ear...) went on the air yesterday to give a speech about the recall election and his bold new plans to lead california into the future.
now, you have to ask yourself, where were these new plans before the recall initiative began? or even while signatures were still being collected? has this man never heard of "too little, too late"? i mean, surely he doesn't think that a last-minute - nearly last-second - speech like that is going to save him from being voted out? i mean, there's a lot of voters in california who are as dense as last year's fruitcake and might not see this for the cunning ploy it is, but for them there's ahnold.
which, incidentally, is not to say that the terminator wouldn't be a good governor... just that in addition to whatever his politics may be he's certainly got the star power. contrary to kafka's statement, it is in fact action movies that are the opiate of the masses. or for those a litttle more satirically minded there's gary coleman - america's first black midget gubernatorial candidate. just think of the demographics he covers!
anyway. that's enough incisive political commentary. gotta go to work - and i probably won't think about this again until election day, whenever the hell that ends up being.
