April 2010 marked the 25th anniversary of the Oberlin College Computer Science department. To celebrate, we hosted a reunion weekend where we invited back all of the computer science alumni and past faculty. This event was attended by over 50 alumni, former faculty, current faculty, and students. Events kicked off on Friday with a welcoming reception and Professor Rich Salter gave an presentation on the history of the department. Saturday morning Oberlin College president Marvin Krislov and dean Sean Decatur talked about the current state of the college and the role of CS within it.
Alumns Ken Baer, Jim Blandy, Steve Hawley, David Zajic, Harold Connamacher, Jen Mankoff, Al Shpuntoff, and Reid Gershbein gave talks on a variety of subjects. There were tours of the remodeled CS offices and lab spaces, students presented posters on their research, and a number of games from a recent game design course were demoed.
